We looked at the sales data from the third quarter to find the 50 most popular molds on our site and see which discs players are actually buying. Some of these rankings were influenced by major releases, limited editions, and special events, while others earned their spots through the consistent popularity of the stock mold. We'll break down what drove each disc's sales, which trends stood out, and which molds might be worth keeping an eye on heading into Q4. Just keep in mind that special releases and promotional events can skew the rankings, so we'll point those out where they made a significant difference.
For the chart below, we took out the Ace-a-thon sales which would greatly skew the data with how large that release is. Everything below Mint Discs made up less than 1% of sales and therefore are not listed. Discraft continues to hold a significant lead over the competition with MVP and Innova comfortably in the top 3. Discmania is the last outlier before you see one final jump down.

1. Zombee
The Zombee leads the way due 100% to the fact that it was this year's Ace-a-thon disc. This entirely skews the data but I still want to include it because this was the best selling disc of the quarter. If you want to take out the ace-a-thon sales, the Zombee would not be in the top 50 and instead you would insert the Axiom Insanity as the 50th best seller behind the Glitch.

2. Buzzz
This was a big quarter for the Buzzz in general but it was helped by the Buzzz/Roc collector boxes that were sold as a fundraiser for the World Championships. Since each box included a Buzzz and a Roc, we counted those boxes as a Buzzz and a Roc sale. Without those sales the Buzzz would fall behind the Destroyer in popularity during this period.

3. PA-3
The PA-3 has been on a great run this year due to the presence of it in Foundation Disc Golf's YouTube videos and the Hunter Thomas signature edition version. This specific run accounted for over 90% of PA-3 sales on our site this quarter and is the only reason the PA-3 is even on the list much less in the top 5.

4. Roc
The Roc has a similar story to the Buzzz. Without the sales from the Buzzz/Roc collector box, it would not be in the top 50. It is important to note that the Roc is different from the Roc3 or the RocX3. So even those each of those discs are different types of Rocs, they are counted separately when considered for this list since they are separate PDGA approved discs.

5. Destroyer
The Destroyer is the first disc on the list that did not have some massive release boosting it up here. There were some team series discs and small custom stamped versions that gave it a boost, but nothing to the scale of the discs above. The Destroyer is here mainly due to the popularity of the stock mold.

6. Roadrunner
The Roadrunner is a phenomenal disc and typically overlooked but it saw a nice boost this quarter with the restock of the Hunnerbird SS version on our site. These Halo Star Roadrunners have been very popular and have helped promote and push the Roadrunner up the leaderboard.

7. Hex
The Hex continues to be one of the most sought after mids on the market. There were some new versions and limited edition releases that helped get it into the top 10 but I don't think anyone that has thrown a Hex is surprised to see it here.

8. Control
The MVP Control was one of the more hyped up releases of the year. The Trail has become a staple in so many player's bags and the Control was presented as a more overstable version of the Trail which got a lot of players excited. It will be interesting to watch how this disc progresses in the future to see if it can continue to keep up with the Trail or if this was a one time sale.

9. Trail
The Trail has become a true staple in a lot of player's bags. I think that the distance it offers without sacrificing control makes it very appealing to a wide variety of players. It is similar to a 10 speed version of the Hex so it is not surprising to see it in the top 10 for the quarter.

10. DD1
Last but not least we have a bit of a surprise in the top 10. The DD1 has become EXTREMELY popular recently as an amateur distance driver. The release of the Premier (Q-Line) version really gave this disc a nice boost and helped a lot of players achieve their farthest throw ever. I am curious to see if the hype stays or if this is the last we see of the DD1.
