Now, if you're looking for the first disc to start playing disc golf with, we suggest you look elsewhere. The DD4 offers a formidable presence - it's the fastest disc in our distance driver line up and packs enough overstability for most to call it a certified meathook.

Simply put, if you are a player with lower arm speed, this is mainly a tool of utility. And a great one at that, as with the 13-speed rating, you'll able to do so much more with the overstability of this disc than with slower utility drivers like the Splice, Tilt or even the FD3. The speed allows the DD4 to go far, while the overstability offers reliability. Great choice for sidearms & overhead shots as well.

Max distance for the big arms

If you do have the power to consistently throw well past 100m / 330ft, this disc starts show you some all new sides. The projected flight numbers for the DD4 mold are likely going to sit at 13 | 5 | 0 | 3, but as said, this is a Prototype run, and as such, these are actually a touch straighter than what those numbers might suggest. Especially if you have the arm speed to go past 140m / 460ft, you might very well be able to get a bit of turn of flip up out of this run of the DD4.

Simply put, this proto run came out touch straighter than we expected. For some, this might be great news, as a 13-speed disc with true 0 turn & 3 fade can easily be a bit too much of a disc to handle. Essentially this opens up the Proto DD4 as a viable option for a wider field of players while also offering some massive distance potential for the biggest of arms.

Discmania

Discmania is a global leader in disc golf, known for its high-quality discs, innovative designs, and strong player community. Founded in 2006, the company has quickly become a favorite among professionals and recreational players alike, with a focus on performance and precision. Discmania is dedicated to growing the sport and pushing the boundaries of disc technology.

Below you will find the details of their "Originals Line" plastics. These are the staple Discmania discs but they do offer some special plastics and molds outside of the normal ones listed below.

Plastic Details

D-Line

This is the main baseline plastic that Discmania offers. It comes in different levels of "flex" so that you can pick the exact stiffness that you like. This is the typical choice of plastic for putting putters and throwing putters that you want to beat in.

C-Line

This is Discmania's translucent premium plastic that is comparable to Champion from Innova or Lucid from Dynamic. It offers a great mix of grip and durability. Expect discs to fly a little bit more overstable in this plastic.

S-Line

This is the grippiest premium plastic that Discmania offers. It has a softer hand feel and a slightly less stable flight than C-Line. Most players prefer this plastic for their drivers or discs where they want more turn out of.
