I bought this after Brad's rave review on In the Bag! My expectations, however, were low with it being a 13 speed. I fully expected this to be another Shryke that's fun in the field but grossly unreliable on the course. Fortunately, I was wrong, and I've since fallen in love with this disc!
First of all, the rim width on the Strive is more like a 12 speed @ 2.2 cm, and for me, it's an ideal size for a distance driver. For reference, many other understable 12 and 13 speeds have 2.3 cm rims, like the Shryke, Tern, Zeus, Raider, and Charger.
Second, Royal Grand plastic is second to none. Just the right amount of flexibility and tackiness for a driver, in my opinion. This has given me much more consistent releases and snap.
Lastly, it's easy to turn, but it has pretty strong low-speed fade. Other easy-to-turn drivers I've tried didn't fade enough to save me when I accidentally overturned them. So instead of sailing into the abyss, you'll get a big turnover with fade.
The closest match I have to the flight of this disc is my beat-in ESP Zeus. I consider the Zeus a touch more stable and less glidey, but they seem to land in a similar spot for me. The Strive, however, gets there with less effort. So, if you're like me with a consistency sweet spot around 70-80% power, I think you'll like it.
