January was another great month for disc golf releases, pre-orders, and familiar favorites climbing back to the top of the charts. From exciting new signature collaborations like the Foundation x Gateway Cornerstone to long-awaited drops like Simon Lizotte’s first fairway driver in the Simon Line, players had plenty of reasons to refresh their bags. At the same time, consistent staples like the Zone and Buzzz proved once again why they remain some of the most trusted molds in the sport. In this post, we’re breaking down the top 25 best-selling discs from the month and what made each one stand out.
1. Foundation x Gateway Cornerstone
This was the first release of the first run Cornerstone on our site. The Cornerstone is our first ever signature series disc with a company and they hype around it is real! The stock release is coming everywhere very soon but we expect it to be a consistent top seller on our site this year.
2. Simon Line Bokeh
The Bokeh finally hit the market for pre-order this month and people were very excited to get their hands on one! This is the first fairway driver in Simon's line of discs with MVP and it offers a different feel in the hand than a lot of other MVP fairways. It is a bit deeper in the hand and offers a great neutral flight. These should ship sometime in February.
3. Gateway Aura
The Aura climbed way up the list this month due to the release of Konner's newest personality disc, the Max Aura. The stamp is funny but the flight of this disc is serious business. This thing offers players an incredibly far flying hyzer flip machine out there on the course. This is one of the personality discs that is going to be a staple in players bags for years to come!
4. Hooligan Flip
Similar to the Aura above, the Flip is here due to the first release of the Trevor Flip outside of the Black Friday mystery boxes. The Flip offers players a very controllable flight on the course that makes navigating even the tightest wooded courses fun!
5. Streamline Engine
The Engine is the next release in collaboration with Eagle McMahon and is the first 13 speed in Streamline's lineup. The pre-order dropped in January and should be shipping soon. It advertises that higher speed players will be able to expect a little bit of a flip up out of it while it will be more overstable in nature for average throwers. We are very excited to get our hands on these!
6. MVP Servo
The Servo released as one of the discs in MVP's new Project Lab Coat which switches the black rim of MVP to be white and refreshes the stock stamp. Several discs became available for pre-order with this new look and people seem to be very excited to get their hands on the new MVP look!
7. Discraft Zone
The Zone is the first true stock disc that we see up here that wasn't boosted by any new releases or anything. After struggling some last year going up against the new Zone SS, it will be interesting to see where the Zone settles on the list consistently this year.
8. Discraft Buzzz
The Buzzz and the Zone are two very similar discs in regard to consistent performance on the best seller list. They both stay in the top 10 even without special releases or stamps. If you want to try some of the most popular discs in the sport right now, the Buzzz and the Zone are good places to start!
9. Discraft Buzzz SS
The Buzzz SS is a fantastic disc but was boosted this month by the sale we ran (and are currently running) on the McBeth victory Buzzz SS. For most players the Buzzz SS flies like you would expect the Buzzz to if you watch pros throw them. The Buzzz SS holds dead straight especially when thrown on slight hyzer.
10. Axiom Crave
The Crave is one of the most popular MVP discs and for a good reason. This disc is extremely straight and flies a very long ways for a 6 speed. If you are looking for a good option that fits in between a mid and a fairway, the Crave is the perfect disc for you!
